You can make this rich, savory garlic butter spread at home in under 10 minutes. It is a versatile condiment perfect for elevating bread, steak, pasta, and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic, minced very fine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the softened butter in a medium bowl. You need the butter soft enough to mix easily without melting it.
  2. Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or a rubber spatula to thoroughly combine all ingredients until the mixture is uniform in color and texture. Mix until no streaks of plain butter remain.
  4. For immediate use, you can serve the garlic butter soft.
  5. For storage, spoon the mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Roll the butter into a tight log shape.
  6. Twist the ends of the wrap to seal the log. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up before slicing or serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute 2 cloves of minced garlic with 1 tablespoon of roasted garlic puree.
  • You can freeze this compound butter for up to 3 months. Wrap tightly and thaw in the refrigerator before use.
  • Use this spread on crusty bread for instant garlic bread, melt over grilled steak, or toss with steamed vegetables.
