You can create this rich, creamy, and layered Mississippi Mud Pie. This recipe uses an Oreo crust and delivers the ultimate chocolate indulgence without complex techniques.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Oreo cookies (about 30 cookies)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate fudge pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Mix the crushed Oreo cookies and melted butter in a bowl. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the crust in the freezer while you prepare the filling.
  2. Make the cream cheese layer: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the chilled Oreo crust.
  3. Make the first pudding layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of cold milk for 2 minutes until slightly thickened. Pour this mixture over the cream cheese layer. Chill the pie for 15 minutes to set this layer slightly.
  4. Make the second pudding layer: In another bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate fudge pudding mix and 2 cups of cold milk for 2 minutes until slightly thickened. Gently spread this fudge pudding mixture over the first pudding layer.
  5. Top the pie: Spread the remaining half of the thawed whipped topping over the fudge layer. If you are using marshmallows, sprinkle them lightly over the top.
  6. Chill: Cover the pie loosely and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until completely firm.
  7. Serve: Before serving this ultimate chocolate indulgence, garnish with chocolate shavings. Slice and enjoy your easy layered dessert.

Notes

  • For a frozen mud pie variation, use coffee ice cream instead of the instant chocolate pudding layers.
  • If you do not have Oreos, you can substitute graham crackers mixed with butter for the crust.
  • This recipe is naturally a no bake pie recipe, saving you oven time.
