Make this simple Pecan Pie Bark for an irresistible, crunchy treat that captures the rich flavor of classic pecan pie without the fuss of baking a whole dessert. This recipe uses an easy graham cracker base and is perfect for holiday gifting or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups pecan halves, lightly toasted
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 1 sleeve of crackers)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 15×10 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar until fully dissolved and the mixture is bubbling, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  3. Place the toasted pecans in a bowl. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the pecans and stir to coat them evenly.
  4. Spread the graham cracker crumbs in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Pour the pecan mixture over the graham cracker layer. Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly across the crumbs.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the topping is bubbly and lightly browned. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Remove the sheet from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot topping. Let it sit for 5 minutes to soften.
  8. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top using an offset spatula.
  9. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour, or until the bark is completely firm.
  10. Once firm, break the bark into irregular pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Toast your pecans lightly in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes before starting to deepen their flavor.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute the graham cracker base with shortbread cookies crushed finely.
  • If you want a thicker layer of chocolate, use 1.5 cups of chocolate chips and melt them separately before spreading.
